Brauerei zur Malzmühle opens the new BRAUWELT KÖLN
On September 1, 2022, BRAUWELT KÖLN will open on the historic site of the Sünner Brewery in Cologne-Kalk. Following the example of other famous beer cities, the new BRAUWELT will also create a world of experience and enjoyment for Cologne with many attractions related to the topics of "brewing beer" and "distilling spirits".
The two oldest Kölsch brands, Mühlen Kölsch and Sünner Kölsch, are brewed in the imposing brewery building on Kalker Hauptstrasse, which is under monument protection, along with 14 high-quality spirits being distilled in Cologne's oldest distillery. It now also opens up a unique world of experience for beer fans.
Numerous adventure offers lure people to Kalk
The guests of BRAUWELT KÖLN can look forward to a wide variety of guided tours, adventure tours, beer and gin tastings, special offers for company and private celebrations as well as numerous workshops and seminars on the subject of brewing beer and the production of spirits. In the BRAUWELT Academy, for example, you can acquire the "Köbes Diploma" or the "Little Braumeister Diploma" and brew your own beer or make your own gin.
In the former ice cellars is the 1000 square meter restaurant with rooms for events of all sizes for up to 400 people. On the outdoor area, the BRAUWELT beer garden lures you to Cologne cuisine and cultural events. Here, each guest can, among other things, have an individual tasting set put together from the different types of spirits or gin. Our little guests also get their money's worth and can enjoy the premium "Kölsches Wasser" lemonades in five flavors as slush ice.
The former technical room with traditional industrial charm has been redesigned into a new tasting and sales room. The "BRAUWELT - Showroom" not only invites you to purchase or try a wide variety of beers and spirits, but also impresses with Cologne's oldest steam engine. In the historic room between the distillery and the brewhouse, you can tap and personalize the high-quality spirits yourself.
"Following the example of other famous beer cities, we wanted to create a world of experience and pleasure for all friends of the art of brewing and distilling in Cologne," says Managing Director Dr. Michael Rosenbaum. "We give our guests the opportunity to try our broad portfolio of 11 different beers and 14 different spirits , all of which are produced here in Cologne-Kalk."
The two oldest family-run breweries in Cologne, which still traditionally brew their beer specialties by hand, joined forces at the beginning of 2022. Under the new name BRAUWELT KÖLN, the Sünner Brauerei (1830) and the Brauerei zur Malzmühle (1858) unite two real traditional Cologne companies under one roof on the historic site in Cologne Kalk.
